Get access to the rear wiper motor and disconnect the wiring. Using a DMM (Digital Multi-Meter) or VOM (Volt-Ohm Meter) in VOLTAGE mode, turn ON the rear wiper and see if there is 12V being sourced to the connector. If yes, your motor is bad. If no, work your way back through the wiring to find the fault. Over time wires can get pinched or worn.

I have a MK4 SE 16V 2001, nothing special, I am currently at work and my alarm keeps going off. it seems to only happen when the car is cold / moisture in the air.. When the car is warm alarm will not sound. Matt-T. If you are using LED bulbs they will be polarity sensitive. I believe the fuses are No 22 & 23 from memory but check your fuse card or search the forum. If your fuses are fine i would get a multimeter and measure for voltage at the switch, then with the switch on check at plug on the lights, then the bulb holder. Posts: 823.
